To my east coast fans - it seems like no matter where you are, yesterday gave you a little dose of spring fever! I know here in central Virginia we experienced temperatures near if not in the 70s!

Walking out of my door and feeling warm air was such a treat. . .and a tease. If you know me, you know I loathe cold weather. I love spring. I love summer. I love that part of fall that still feels like summer.

Needless to say, after yesterday's spring teaser I've got the fever. So I spent the afternoon settling my ache for warmer weather by looking at images I captured last spring. This beautiful moment was captured last March, second week. That will be here before we know it!

Spring light is beautiful and it's a perfect time for a portrait session. Just think of the smiles you wear in those first weeks of putting on lighter clothes and spring dresses? It's like you're dropping the burden of winter when you slide out of your coat for the last time of the season.

I'm currently accepting portrait sessions for this spring. Portrait sessions are a great way to capture your love; so grab your someone special and let's pencil in your date! Portrait sessions come with your choice of a personalized DVD, a beautiful hardback album or both. For all the details, visit the
contact page to get started.

As a photographer one would imagine my home is littered with prints and framed photos. Sometimes I  imagine it that way too however... it isn't. It's not to say that I don't take a lot of photos. I do - often daily.  I have images that I love but they live trapped in 1s and 0s, the bits and bytes of my hard drives.

I don't make New Year's resolutions, but if I did, printing my personal photographs would be one of them.  I work so hard at capturing images for others and making sure that they have tangible photos to love, that I forget that I love them too.

A few weeks ago as my birthday gift, my husband and I went on a trip to New York City with my brother in law and his girlfriend. I'd been before but never with enough time to "do all the things."  This time we did everything. Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square, Manhattan, Wall Street, Chinatown, Broadway, 5th Avenue. . .the list goes on. I took some photos I really love and am promising myself to have them printed and framed in our house.

These are a few of my favorites from the trip. There's something so freeing yet challenging for me in photographing personal projects. Particularly in creating images without human subjects. I love portraiture but it was fun to do something different. I hope you enjoy them as well.

The true beauty of New York; these images were taken within a half block of one another!

I think the Brooklyn Bridge is one of my new favorite places.

I always love when clients become friends but if there could be anything better it's when you're already friends!  Whitney and I go all the way back to freshman year at Mercer University. From laughs together in class to being roommates for almost two years, many of my early college memories center around the great times we had together.

Spending time with Whitney and Kevin together was wonderful. Their personalities don't just compliment each other, but complete one another. It's so great to see an old friend in love. It makes me think of our late college nights spent in our dorm, talking about and hoping for our futures; if only we'd known how beautifully our dreams for love would be fulfilled!

We enjoyed the afternoon walking around Fells Point in downtown Baltimore; from the eclectic shops to the pier, it provided a fun, urban backdrop for their shoot. I am more than looking forward to capturing their wedding this summer!

Well hello, 2013! I hope you enjoyed a beautiful Christmas or Hanukkah, and a happy New Year; that your cup ran over with love, joy, peace, family and fun.

One of the best gifts during the holidays is the promise of love and matrimony! My husband and I were engaged just before Christmas so that time of year holds even more sentimental value for us. I love hearing of holiday engagements; maybe it was on Christmas morning, out in the snow or at family dinner? Perhaps under the magical twinkle of Christmas lights and mistletoe?

With the New Year brings new plans; ceremony and venues, picking colors and dresses, bridesmaids and groomsmen. Invitations, catering and last but certainly not least, carefully selecting an artist to capture your day. My favorite weddings are those full of details and heart; equally matched in aesthetic and the unseen, but felt, beauty of forever love.

If you or someone you love spent the holidays celebrating an engagement, please visit the "contact" page to be in touch with me. Creating timeless art for your Engagement and Wedding is more than my pleasure, it's my joy!
