It's always great to attend a wedding as a guest - you see your friends come down the aisle, say vows and enter into covenants, you seem them do first dances and accept toasts, and exit at the end of the night off into their future. There's something special about being there behind the scenes on that day though. As their photographer I get to see so many of the little moments that truly make a wedding day memorable.  I see tender moments between parents and their soon to wed children, I see sentimental gifts being opened, tears shed, & hugs shared. I hear whispers, cheers and high fives, the quiet pre-ceremony prayers.

It really is a treasure for me to see this side of the day and I'll never take that privilege for granted.

I enjoyed photographing Jenn & Chris' wedding day in St. Louis this spring.  Chris, my husband and I have been friends for over ten years now. It's been a joy seeing Jenn and Chris together, following their adventures and now watching them grow as husband and wife.

Congratulations again you two, it was truly a lovely day & an honor to be a part of it!

Let's be honest people. I know its the United States Capitol; but I'm ready to claim it as the Capitol of love. Particularly during Cherry Blossom festival. How couldn't I? The trees erupt into a canopy of pinks, fuchsias and every shade between, the temperatures warm up and well - the birds and the bees make their yearly reappearances.

Cherry blossom is the perfect time for engagement sessions and I couldn't wait to share a sneak peek of today's loveliness with Ivy and Rein. They trekked all the way in from the Chicago suburbs to get the Cherry Blossom experience. Coincidentally, with their arrival came the height of the blooms, a gentle spring breeze, and well a day full of love and laughter.

So, maybe the Capitol of love just happens to be wherever you make it?

Many more photos to come, but here's a few to enjoy for now!

My husband and I have been together for 9 years this month. Of course, it goes without saying that when we got married two and a half years ago his family became mine and vise-versa.  Jordan and his brother Micah have a special relationship in that they're more than just brothers - they're friends. I've had the joy of inheriting Micah's friendship as well.  From trips to tailgates to holidays, celebrations, and everything in between, the three of us have enjoyed making memories together over the years.

All of that said - I thought I knew Micah. We all did. We knew he was kind, adventurous, bright & charming (I could go on) however, when Amy came into his world. . .well, he lit up. His smiles were bigger. Laughs louder. Adventures even greater. And he was so. full. of love.

I'm happy to say that Amy is also more than a sister in law, she has become a great friend as well! All of our common interests aside, I love that Amy is one of the most genuine, humbly loving, endearing people around.

It has been such a privilege to watch the story of Amy and Micah's love unfold. I've enjoyed capturing them along the way - from their beach and mountain engagements and now, their wedding.

It was a most beautiful occasion, but I'll let the images do the story telling. Congratulations, Amy and Micah. I'm so glad we're family - but I'm even more glad we're friends.
