Let's be honest people. I know its the United States Capitol; but I'm ready to claim it as the Capitol of love. Particularly during Cherry Blossom festival. How couldn't I? The trees erupt into a canopy of pinks, fuchsias and every shade between, the temperatures warm up and well - the birds and the bees make their yearly reappearances.

Cherry blossom is the perfect time for engagement sessions and I couldn't wait to share a sneak peek of today's loveliness with Ivy and Rein. They trekked all the way in from the Chicago suburbs to get the Cherry Blossom experience. Coincidentally, with their arrival came the height of the blooms, a gentle spring breeze, and well a day full of love and laughter.

So, maybe the Capitol of love just happens to be wherever you make it?

Many more photos to come, but here's a few to enjoy for now!

Jenn and Chris are one of my favorite couples. Chris was one of my husband's college roommates and it seems that when I think back on my favorite first memories of my husband and I together in our early years - those memories are often filled up with the great times we had with incredible friends, and Chris is one of them. I'm so glad that in the decade since then we've all remained close. I'm even happier that in that time, Chris has found his beautiful counterpart Jenn, and that she and I have become great friends too.

When they asked me to come with them to St. Louis to take their engagement photos, I was thrilled! That is the farthest west I've been and I love to travel! They'll be getting married there next spring, so we spent the weekend visiting not only the places that Jenn spent growing up in, but also the places they'll spend making wedding memories.  I can't wait until their wedding day. It's going to be incredible and I am so honored, joyed, and humbled they've asked me to capture their first day as husband and wife.

This session is one of my favorites to date. I think it just overflows with joy and love. Maybe it's just me because I'm a little partial to the subjects; but I think they've got something special.

See for yourself.

What's a visit to St. Louis without a photo of The Arch?

If the ability to make each other smile is any indication of a couple's future...these two are bound for a lifetime of joy!

Had a blast with them in St. Louis' Forest Park. Can't wait to share more!

It's usually my job to make people laugh. To get the genuine smiles. To make sure everyone is having a great time.

Paige and Calvin took that responsibility off of my shoulders; from the very moment I picked up my camera, their infectious personalities kept us all laughing until the end.

It was such a perfect day. Full of sunshine, spring breezes, love and laughter. Paige and Calvin wanted a backdrop that contrasted their city life; something quaint and peaceful. The National Arboretum was just that. Nestled in north east Washington off of New York Avenue, the Arboretum is a pleasantly peaceful surprise inside one of our country's busiest cities.

Next we headed back to the Capitol Hill area - neighborhoods full of cobblestone sidewalks, fantastic brownstones, restaurants and of course amazing views of the Capitol buildings.

As much as I love the sights of the District, the best view that day was through my lens. Regardless of the backdrop, my favorite sight is of two people madly in love with each other.
To me, that's the best view.
