Bri + Brian + Baby

First things first - congratulations to this beautiful couple on the birth of their beautiful baby GIRL! 

Bri and Brian chose not to know the gender of their baby before birth; how exciting! As evidenced in these photos - before her arrival they were anxiously awaiting and excited for the best surprise of their lives. They got their surprise just last week and let me tell you, she's a beauty. 

This day earlier this summer wasn't just special because it was their maternity shoot - it was also their sixth wedding anniversary. If that doesn't spell L-O-V-E then I don't know what does! It is my hope that one day their daughter will look at these photos and see just how much joy she brought her parents before she was even born. I hope these images become her treasure and reminder that she is dearly, deeply loved by two amazing people.

Portrait Session - Barbara

A few weeks ago I posted a sneak peek of Barbara's portrait session at UVA.  Barbara was in need of head shots that captured her personality.  While I had the equipment to capture the shots, she has ALL the personality (as you will see!) I'm excited to share more shots from her session today.

While photographing, I was able to spend time getting to know Barbara more (a wonderful benefit of my job is that I spend time hearing people's stories).  She's done some really neat things in her life, including having a modeling portfolio shot by a photographer in NYC! (No pressure, right?!) If there's one thing I took away from the session, it was a deep respect of Barbara's enthusiasm and joy in life.  JOY is more than being happy; happy is based on momentary enjoyment. Joy is being content, excited about and grateful for life regardless of what it throws your way.  Barbara's got joy and I hope that like her,  I can be ever-joyful too.

Also, I'd love to experience some of the awesome things she's done...except I'd rather be the photographer instead of the model in NYC!

"Little Munchkin"

I am so thankful for the friends I've grown to know since I've moved to Culpeper.  I have to say, while the first few months living here were nothing short of post-wedding bliss, I did miss my girlfriends quite a bit.  I have been so fortunate to have met Laurel and Erica through my past job.  Although circumstances have taken us down different paths and we no longer work together, we do our best to have lunch once a week.

These are a few shots from our lunch at Arch's (remember my fro-yo love?) last week. While Erica and Laurel offer up great conversation, baby Milla takes care of all of the cuteness.  The "office baby" I've come to lovingly call "Little Munchkin" is sugar-sweet and I am so happy to have seen her grow over the last months.

If her little face doesn't make your heart just melt into a puddle of "ooh's" and "aww's", you might just be the Grinch.

Beautiful Barbara

Just a little sneak peek of my shoot with Barbara today.  We found a beautiful little spot on UVA "grounds" (NOT campus, I stand corrected!)

Barbara described herself perfectly - "genuine".   She hit the nail right on the head.  Her smile says it all.

Going Green

Whew! It's been a fun few weeks.  As spring progresses, I am beginning to get busier and busier.  It really is a great feeling.  To my clients - past, present and future - thank you so much.  Every purchase we make is a choice, and to me photography is not just a purchase but an investment in preserving your memories.  Words don't do justice to how grateful I am to those who choose to invest in my work. Thank you. 


Alright, mushiness aside! I had a great time with Kelsey, owner of Green Roost, last night for her store shoot. Green Roost is a Culpeper shop that is the best place to find unique, earth friendly products (from bedding to clothing to jewelry to decor - she has it all)!  I can't wait to edit and share more photos from the shoot, but for now here's a sweet sneak peek.  If you know anything about me (or have read my "get to know me" tab) you are already aware that I have a slight obsession with scarves.  Green Roost just happens to have some awesome scarves (made from sustainable bamboo I believe) that are adorable. And striped. And I love them.

In the name of all things green (as this post title implies) I had a fabulous smoothie this morning called the Green Monster.  Looks gross, tastes awesome. One smoothie has TWO cups of spinach (which you don't taste)! Look, ma...I'm eating my vegetables!

Lastly, the husband and I headed down to Macon, Georgia for the beautiful wedding of our friends Eleta and Alex.  Weddings are just so much fun and the best reason for all the people you love to get together in one place. Appropriately enough for this post, the wedding color was (you guessed it), green! Here's two of my best friends (and wedding participants) Carrie & Jessica showing off their green!

Jenny & Kyle - Wedding

A beautiful, unseasonably warm December day. Abundant sunshine and saturated blue skies. The buzz of anticipation in the air. The warm love of friends and family radiating from every corner. Could you ask for anything more? 

Jenny and Kyle's wedding day was just perfect.  I am beyond honored and grateful they allowed me to be a part of it.

In love with the warm sunny light of the Ingleside Baptist Church Sanctuary. 

If you've seen Jenny and Kyle's engagement session post, you already know that Kyle proposed under a Magnolia tree.  How perfect is it to have a shot under on on their wedding day?!

There is something so special about the first moments when a father sees his daughter-bride. Can you tell I am a Daddy's girl?  The ring tied to Jenny's bouquet belonged to her late grandfather. So sweet. 

Jenny had a pair of socks embroidered with their wedding date as a gift for Kyle. Too cute!

I love how Kyle and Jenny involved their family during the ceremony with a blessing of the rings.  Such a touching moment seeing each person pray their marriage blessings as the rings were passed. 

The reception was held at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in downtown Macon, Georgia.  Dinner was served in the Georgia Room while toasts and dancing took place in the main hall. Guests were able to enjoy and explore the games and exhibits of the hall for a unique way to have fun & celebrate!

With their wedding only 8 days before Christmas, what better way to commemorate than with personalized ornaments as favors? An engagement photo of the couple was enclosed in tiny glass hearts. Adorable!
