Caroline - Senior Portraits

Caroline is a girl after my own heart; she's endearing, independent, and unique.

When her mom called to let me know they wanted to schedule her shoot, she sent along the inspiration Caroline picked out.  I'd say none of the images elicited one to think "senior portraits" and I fell in love. Like her personality, Caroline knew she wanted her senior portraits to stand out from the crowd, not in a loud way but in a subtle, artful way.

I'd have to say that her session and images are some of my favorite to date. I love how personal they are; you'll find Caroline with a photo of herself as a little girl and also wearing a pair of wings from her birthday as a toddler.  I normally stray away from excessive use of props, but I love how artful her's were. I would love to shoot more sessions just like this.

We shot the session in the back of her mom's downtown Culpeper shop, Harriet's General because of it's beautiful, neutral backdrop and amazing afternoon light.  It confirmed one of my long term goals that one day I must own a natural light studio.

I hope you enjoy these images as much as I did creating them. Congratulations on making it to senior year, Caroline.  My prayer for you is that you never let this world change you and never limit your dreams.

Caroline, her mom Kate, and sister Charly all have a special tattoo that I just adore! It's an abstract script of the siblings' initials, C, C and B. I couldn't help but ask them to take this photo together.
