After a tumultuous week, I am beyond excited to share a few photos from Jenny and Kyle's wedding last weekend.  I can say I thoroughly had a wonderful time photographing their day and I am so excited to get to work on editing all of their photos.  The day itself couldn't have been a better backdrop for their wedding - perfectly blue skies, sixty-five degree weather, abundant sunshine, and friends & family overflowing with love for Jenny and Kyle.

I can already tell there are going to be so many beautiful photos to share from this day, but I just couldn't keep you waiting any longer!

{Merry Christmas to all and to all, a good night!}

Holly and I met through our local Chi Omega Alumnae group when she hosted our Christmas dinner at her lovely home a few weeks ago.  I was thrilled when she contacted me about photographing her kids and family! I love kids.  Many years of babysitting and working in children's ministry have left me missing out on days spent with the littlest of people.  The Stancil kids were a hoot - full of personality and all-around-fun but more importantly, loving and kind.  All of the things I pray my kiddos will be someday.

The best thing about this family session is that it required very little direction on my part.  Every smile you see is genuine...no love was fabricated in the making of these photos!  I just sat back (or, well, laid on the ground occasionally) and clicked away!

I am thankful for the opportunity to get to photograph the Stancils and hope that they are able to treasure these fun moments for years to come!

{enjoy, friends!}

I had a blast photographing these kiddos yesterday.  If you need a Monday morning pick-me-up, check out these smiles! Oh to be a kid again!  Thank you, Stancil family, for the opportunity to capture your happy clan!

Rizza and I go way back - we are sorority sisters, in the same "jersey family", and even former roommates! So when Rizza approached me about photographing her and her fiancĂ©'s engagement session I was thrilled - of course because of the photography, but also just to catch up!

We planned their shoot at Daniel's family farm property in McCrae, Georgia.  Over the few weeks leading up the shoot, Rizza and Daniel raved about the location and their ideas for the session.  I cannot repeat enough how I was blown away by both! The property was beautiful; it was the perfect fall afternoon to shoot. Serene, colorful, and around every corner was yet another perfect, hidden treasure of a background.  Their ideas (planning a picnic topped off with vintage books, stopping by the pastures, etc) did not disappoint!

On our way down to McCrae I was lucky enough to hear Rizza and Daniel's oh-so-sweet engagement story.  I enjoyed getting to know Daniel better - he has heart melting southern charm, a chivalrous spirit and most importantly a huge heart for Rizza.  I could go on and on, but I'll let the photos speak for themselves!

{without further adieu}

I couldn't wait to share a frame from Rizza and Daniel's engagement shoot this weekend!
No worries, more coming soon!
{stay tuned}

If you've landed on this page because you have www.jbwardphotography.blogspot.com as your bookmark, you may have noticed a little change. . .this page is now www.jbwardphotography.com!  I am excited to be the proud owner of my own little piece of the interwebs.

I have been so very blessed recently to be shooting for more and more clients and I want to offer only the best in services to each and every person I get to photograph. An important part of those services is how people are able to experience and interact with my work. In my "big dreams" category, I hope that jbwardphotography.com will one day be a place where clients not only come to view my work, but also to schedule shoots, review their proofs and purchase professional prints and products.  In the "small steps to big dreams" category we start here, at the blogsite.

It has been so exciting to make the first moves toward doing what I love and I appreciate every page view (almost 2,000 since this blog was established in August), every comment...all of it.  We all know the saying "humble beginnings" but I hope my humble beginnings won't be just that.  I hope to cling to humility and never forget to say "thank you" to the people who got me to where I am. Because without people to photograph - I'm just a girl with a camera. So, THANK YOU for visiting my website (woo hoo!) I hope you will come back often and if you like what you see, that you'll share the link with a friend.

{happy weekending}

A perfect D.C. Sunday afternoon, a lovely couple newly engaged, deeply in love...could I ask for anything more?  I had a grand time photographing these two. We visited Montrose Park to find a sweet spot Larin and Patrick found the weekend before - beautifully aged stone steps leading up to a wrought iron gate - fabulous find! Next we spent time in the gardens at Dumbarton Oaks.  If you ever find yourself in the District looking for a beautiful way to spend an afternoon, I strongly suggest visiting this locale. Between the terraces, lawns and the appropriately named Lovers' Lane Pool we had no problem finding those perfectly romantic spots to settle in and capture some great photographs.  Finally we headed down to the Potomac as the sun set between the willow trees.

Larin and Patrick -I wish you all the best as you plan your wedding a prepare for marriage together! Your love for each other makes my heart swell and it brings me joy that I got to capture these photos for you.  I can't wait until your wedding day - although, I must not forget the Kleenex...I know I'm going to need it!
